Surrender

by Monica Chuda

An elegant decorative flourish with swirling lines and leaf-like elements.

We were in love

Late love

More mature

Thatโ€™s for sure

Thinking we will grow old

Together

That thinking was bold

Surrender

When GOD calls

You have to go

What a blow

To your plans

It happened so fast

Youโ€™re never ready

For pulse so thready

Closed eyes

Me aghast

Your last breath

It happened so fast

Ended in death

I gagged

Couldnโ€™t think

Under the floor I sink

But what kept me sane

While you were leaving

Praying your soul easing

To the other side

Wasnโ€™t in vain

Divine Mercy chaplet

Life giving droplet

Repeated over and again

While you were breathing

So heaven you can gain

As JESUS promised

And then it was finished

You lay there still and cold

Loved missed cherished

Memories to hold

My dearest LORD

Into your hands

I commit his spirit

I let him go

Or so I thought

He was taken from his cross

And his loss

Was for me

Ascending mine

Falling to my knees

Indescribable pain

My whole strength drained

Emptied my brain

I was trying in vain

Day after day

There was nothing left

I stand there bereft

Alone in the crowd

To my knees I fell and bowed

Again and again

And I realized

Only You Lord

I could hold on to

And hope in

Your bottomless mercy

I called to the Lord

And He rescued me

From all my distress

He put peace in my heart

Which was racked with pain

Me You sustained

I cried bitterly

Abandoned myself utterly

And You came to me

You made me free

Thank You Lord

To Your all powerful Word

Spoken with Love

Came down from above

To comfort me

Abide in hope

You said

Even if feeling alone

In the whole wide world

I am still here

And your love?

Heโ€™s with me up there

In my omnipotent care

Your tears

Your fear

Your sleepless nights

Disappeared in heavenly Light

Live your life

Donโ€™t despair

Your love share

For kingdom prepare

My dear Lord

You offered me healing

In my deepest grieving

Hope and love

From above

I thank you

From the bottom of my heart
